The outer shelf of the retainer is sized to accommodate lead ballast (or similar) for chassis balancing and to bring the car up to the updated minimum weight. With a typical electronics setup, the chassis can be equally balanced left to right while achieving the minimum weight requirement. Additionally, the inboard battery position allows the inner ESC power wire to be inserted and removed with no interference or risk of a short circuit. As with most pro-style setups, strapping tape is used to secure the battery within the retainer (not shown).
