First Championship Win For Team CometRC
Team CometRC achieves First and Second places in the 2010 Chippenham Carpet Thrashnal Championship!
Marcus Askell, aka Qball takes the first championship win for CometRC in the 13.5 Class at the Chippenham Carpet Thrashnal’s using a Tekin RS Pro powered Team Magic E4RS, an amazing achievement as just six months ago they were all sat around a table discussing how to start the team and where to go with it. Throughout the Carpet Thrashnals, Team CometRC have been a force to be reckoned with in the 13.5 class and Marcus and Darren finished the series taking overall first and second places.
Marcus ‘Qball’ achieved the win with a maximum score all but one point with two rounds to go to the end. He finished second in the very first final back in November 2009 and then TQ’d and won the next six to take the early win. Having the championship under his belt he decided to let the other drivers in 13.5 fight it out for second place at the remaining two meetings and moved up into the 10.5 class. This time was used to try out some set-up changes and get stuck into understanding the new software from Tekin for the RS Pro. He didn’t dissappoint there either.
Darren got stuck in throughout the later meetings which meant second place was to be decided at the finals recently, he did have the team slightly worried in qualifying by putting himself third on the grid but put the pedal to the metal in the two finals with some good fortune and top notch driving sealed his second place in the championship.
Marcus and Darren have put a great deal of effort in from day one of the Thrashnals with getting to grips with a new car, a new team, a new class and a weight reduction rule change after the first round. All of this combined with finding some awesome power from the new Tekin RS Brushless System.
A huge thanks must go the all the people who have been involved in Team CometRC (you know who you are) for an amazing start to the year. The team don’t think any of them imagined they would be where they are now so quickly, but it’s here, it’s real and it’s just the beginning! Team CometRC are looking forward to many more championship wins in the future!
