LRP And Völker Win European Indoor Championship 2010
LRP´s successful start to the 2010 racing year continues! The 2nd edition of the EFRA European Indoor Championship for 1:10 TC cars took place the 26-28th February. While most of the European countries at this time of the year are starting to experience some sunny and early spring weather, the Euros took place in the north of Europe, in snowy and cold Finland. All the top Touring Car drivers in Europe were present as well as the LRP factory team Ronald Völker, Alexander Hagberg, Christer Andersson, Juho Levänen supported by LRP team manager Reto König.
Previously there was the successful European Championship warm-up event, where Christer Andersson easily won the meeting with LRP power, as well as the dominant performance at the DHI-cup earlier in January, where Ronald Völker and Christer Anderson dominated the event.
As practice got underway on the 1st out of 4 days of racing action, it was LRP driver Christer Andersson and Ronald Völker whoset the pace. Christer Andersson has had a great indoor season so far, with victories in the warm-up event for the Indoor European Championship, as well as taking TQ and the runner-up spot last month at the DHI-Cup in Denmark. Vice-World Champion Ronald Völker, who enjoyed a fantastic win at the DHI-Cup was looking for a repeat of that success. Ronald Völker was “surprisingly” quick, considering he was the only of the top favourites who did not attend the warm-up event. Closely matched with Christer and Ronald in practice was their team-mates Juho Levänen and Alexander Hagberg all running LRPs new brushless motors X12 Octa-Wind and LRP SXX TC spec.
Going into the qualification it proved straight away that the battle for TQ was between two drivers, Ronald Völker and Christer Andersson. With a round-by-round qualification system, the 3 best rounds out of 6 were counted for the overall qualifying order. Ronald Völker and Christer Andersson were the only drivers being able to TQ a round and therefore shared the TQ rounds amongst them. LRP team drivers Ronald Völker, Christer Andersson and Alexander Hagberg with their LRP brushless technology completely dominated their competition and covered the top 2 spots in 5 out of 6 rounds. In the end it was Ronald Völker powered by LRP Vector X12 Octa-Wind motor, LRP SXX TC spec and LRP LiPo5300 Competition Car Line Hardcase who increased the leading pace even more and could take a comfortable pole position with 4 qualification wins out of 6 rounds in front of Christer Andersson in 2nd and Alexander Hagberg in 3rd position. Positive surprise in the A-main were Norway´s young Adrian Berntson and Finland´s young Viljami Kutvonen both running for LRP and both securing their first A-main finish in an European Championship. Both drivers are huge talents and despite their young age, managed to beat experienced full sponsored drivers in the field. We can be sure to see much more of these talented drivers in the future!
- 80% of the A-Main drivers relied on LRP SXX TC spec speed controllers
- 60% of the A-Main drivers relied on LRP Vector X12 Modified motors
- 40% of the A-Main drivers relied on LRP LiPo 5300 – 40C “Competition Car Line”
- 80% of the A-Main drivers relied on Sanwa transmitters
As the A-finals got underway it was no longer a fight between the 2 top qualifiers. Ronald Völker was in his own league. In the1st A-final it was Ronald Völker who with some quick first laps opened up a close gap in front of the chasing pack. Mistakes by both Christer Andersson and Alexander Hagberg let world champion Marc Rheinard into 2nd position and Juho Levänen to 3rd position. Up in front, Ronald Völker controlled his pace comfortably to Marc Rheinard and in the end could take the win with a 1 sec margin. Marc and Juho kept their positions and finished 2nd and 3rd.

In the 2nd final pole man Ronald Völker got it all together once again with a mistake free run. Ronald didn´t give Christer any chance to fight for the lead, but lap-by-lap increased his lead. In the end it was a well deserved win in the 2nd final for Ronald which also secured him the overall European Indoor Championship title after only 2 finals. In 2nd position Christer was able to hold his position from hard charging Alexander Hagberg in 3rd and Marc Rheinard in 4th place.

With the 1st place already decided, the 3rd A-main was all about the fight for the last 2 podium places. As Ronald chose to sit-out and watch the 3rd final it was a battle between warm-up winner Christer Andersson, Alexander Hagberg and Marc Rheinard. With Christer finally starting with a clean track ahead of him, he could really drive his own race and push his limit to the max. Without any threat Christer controlled the race to take the A-main 3 win and also 2nd position overall. Behind him the battle for 2nd was more intense. Alexander Hagberg was closely followed by Marc Rheinard, and by a nice overtaking pass Marc went by Alexander into 2nd position which he held to the end and therefore secured 3rd and last podium position.

The European Indoor Championship was another big success for LRP after the dominant performance at the DHI-Cup only one month ago. With the new Vector X12 Octa-Wind motors, LRP SXX TC spec and LRP LiPo 5300 – 40C “Competition Car Line” batteries, LRP has really stepped up the performance once more and secured yet another EFRA European Championship title!
Adrian Berntson also secured the European Junior Championship with LRP, due to his 9th place overall.
Congratulations Ronald Völker and Adrian Berntson!
