HoBao Hyper 9 Pro UK 1:8 Racing Buggy

Throughout 2009 CML’s team have been testing various combinations of parts for Hyper 9, and here we give a brief explanation for the reasons of inclusion for some new features in the new UK kit.

‘B’ Spec Front End

After extensive testing, our team drivers felt that 90% of the time it was the ‘B’ Spec parts that they came back to. The greater caster that the ‘B’ Spec front end allows makes the car feel smoother, and less like it is trying to pivot around the nose of the car. The team drivers found that on the majority of tracks we have in the UK which are usually fast and/or high traction, the ‘B’ Spec was easier to drive, more consistent and ultimately faster. The new ‘No-pop’ ball joints also offer greater reliability.

‘B’ Spec Rear End

The ‘B’ Spec rear end was found to be an improvement in all situations. The new flat wishbone allows for more ground clearance and as a result the car drives through rough sections far better than before, and combined with the new positions available on the shock tower the car generates more rear traction and doesn’t get thrown off line by the wishbone hitting the track surface.

Spider Front Diff

The use of a Spider diff at the front has become the norm for the Hobao UK team, the greater drive the unit offers allows the car pull harder and accelerate faster than with the standard unit. In certain situations when even greater drive is required, for example on dry astroturf tracks, a Spider diff is sometimes fitted in the centre also.

Brakes

The new UK kit comes with Hobao’s new material brakes discs, and spring loaded pads. The new disc offers more consistent and feel some stopping power, while the springs in the pads prevent the pad and disc rubbing when the brake is not applied.

Chassis

The longer 4mm chassis that is used in this kit has proved to be more consistent than the standard length item, and is a noticeable improvement on bumpy tracks.

The kit features many other improvements and hop ups, all aimed at improving reliability, tunability and performance.
