Joe Brown of Racer Magazine produced a copy of Shaun Hollamby’s British Touring Car Championship contending VW Golf race car, with some subtle changes of his own… Impressed by his efforts, Shaun who was the winner of the BTCC Fan’s Trophy this year, invited Joe along as a guest to the final round of the 2010 BTCC Championship that took place at Brands Hatch, on the condition that the Golf-bodied Tamiya would come along too. It was to be displayed during the pitlane walkabout as well as in the AMD VIP Area for his sponsors to see.
Joe did not hesitate to take the opportunity and was given full access to the garage area and grid walk for the first round.
The 1:10 Golf is based on a Tamiya TT-01E chassis and features one-off CNC alloy wheels and vinyl graphics as seen on the full size version. Over the winter period, Joe hopes to produce a new perfect replica including the YourRacingCar.com graphics as well. This is not the first BTCC car Joe has produced as his BTCC loving girlfriend received a 1:10 replica of Colin Turkington’s championship-winning BMW for Christmas as seen in the Staff Rides Section of this website.
