Team Durango report from round one of the 2011 JBRL Electric Series held at Hot Rod Hobbies in California:

Some 280 drivers turned out for the event and this included Team Durango drivers Hupo Hönigl and Jörn Neumann who would participate in 2WD, 4WD and Pro 4WD Short Course with Gerd Strenge in support. It was a very long day of racing with two rounds of qualifying and single leg finals. In 4WD, it was a close battle between Hupo and Jörn with their DEX410s for the TQ spot with Jörn finally taking it. In Pro 4WD Short Course the brand new DESC410R was the car to beat and again Jörn took the TQ from Hupo and Chad Bradley. In 2WD, Frank Root took TQ spot by a second from Jörn with the prototype DEX210 with Mike Truhe third and Hupo fourth.
The finals were six-minutes long and first up was 4WD. Hupo had a very bad start, but Jörn led the final from start to finish. Hupo pushed very hard and with some very fast laps he finished second after his poor start. The Pro 4WD Short Course final was up next and Jörn had a good start and built up a healthy lead of a few seconds after the first lap, aided by a crash behind him. Hupo had a close battle with Mike Truhe for the second spot but at the end Jörn took the win with the brand new DESC410R by a half lap over second place Mike Truhe and third Hupo Hönigl also with the DESC410R. One of the last finals was the 2WD final and on the very first lap, Jörn overtook Frank after the triple jump to take the lead before making some consistent laps to build a gap back to second. At the end, Jörn took the win from Jonny Wachter and Brian Mcduffie with Hupo eighth after a crash at the start. All cars are working great and we are now head to Phoenix for the Cactus Classic.
