Marc Rheinard Wins 2011 Reedy Race of Champions
Marc Rheinard and Viktor Wilck, both powered by Thunder Power RC, battled through the field of 27 of the world’s top drivers to finish first and second at the Reedy Race of Champions Invitational Class. The event was held 28-29 May and was hosted by Nor-Cal hobbies in Union City, CA. This challenging two-day event consists of racing in three open-to-the-public touring car classes: 13.5T, 17.5T and Open/Modified. The Reedy Race of Champions is a unique racing format with a grueling eight rounds of heat races normally consisting of four rounds of racing per day. All races began with random starting position and ended with points associated to each driver for their finish position (first place = 1 point, second place = 2 points, etc). The overall winner was determined by the lowest tally of the best out of six finishes as drivers were able to throw out their worst two scores.
Team Thunder Power RC driver, Marc Rheinard, battled his way to the Championship title as Victor Wilck kept the pressure on his fellow team mate. Marc was using Thunder Power batteries whilst Viktor was equipped with the all-new Thunder Power RC Z3R 540 Brushless Motor and Thunder Power RC Pro Race 65C batteries. At the end of the two-days of stiff competition, Wilck shared the podium with Rheinard finishing strong taking second place in the Invitational Class.
