The Rain Wins at Cotswold

Cotswold

Schumacher report from a rain affected National at Cotswolds:

This last weekend saw the Schumacher on-road team head down to the awesome Cotswolds facility in the south west of England for round two of the BRCA Nationals. Hot on the back of a great TQ and win for Chris Grainger at the previous West London round, the team were looking very strong to repeat the WL performances. After the first two rounds of qualifying the Mi4CX was sitting pretty at the top of the time sheets in both classes, with Chris TQ the first two rounds in mod and James Hart TQ’ing the first two Pro Stock rounds.
The worst fears of all the drivers happened overnight as they awoke to the terrible rain showers that had been predicted all week. With the rain brings great uncertainty and pretty much thats what happened for a host of runners.  However, Mark ‘Waldo’ Wallace took it all in his stride and put it on pole in Pro Stock with the Mi4CX with a further five Schumacher’s in the A final, which was a fantastic performance.

Pro Stock
1  Mark Wallace – Mi4CX
2  James Hart – Mi4CX
3  Jon Bowden
4  Chris Slater
5  Sam Clifton – Mi4CX
6  Zak Smith
7  David Hall – Mi4CX
8  Chris Neff
9  Lee Price – Mi4CX
10 Kieran Clift – Mi4CX

Matt White continued his good form lining up third in Modified. Technical gremlins affected Chris Grainger in the rain so he lined up fourth with Schumacher’s Chris Ashton also making the top ten, so three cars in the final.

Modified
1  Andy Moore
2  Olly Jefferies
3  Matthew White – Mi4CX
4  Chris Grainger – Mi4CX
5  Russell Williams
6  Chris Kerswell
7  Alan Bickerstaff
8  Tom Watts
9  Brian Eldridge
10 Chris Ashton – Mi4CX

As the rain continued to persist the decision was to continue running the finals however worsening conditions after the first round saw an abandonment of the race, and unlike F1 the race didn’t continue.  Under these rules points from just one leg of the finals count. Unfortunately the first leg positions didn’t go that great for the team, with only Lee Price managing to salvage a podium position from ninth on the grid.

Pro Stock
1 Zak Smith
2 Chris Slater
3 Lee Price
4 Jon Bowden
5 James Hart
6 Chris Neff
7 Sam Clifton
8 Mark Wallace
9 Kieran Clift
10 David Hall

Modified
1 Olly Jefferies
2 Chris Kerswell
3 Andy Moore
4 Russell Williams
5 Tom Watts
6 Chris Grainger
7 Chris Ashton
8 Matthew White

10 Alan Bickerstaff

We roll on to the fast Halifax next month with hope of some better weather.
