X-Factory UK Products Dominate Fastrax GP
Sunday 19 June saw the inaugural Fastrax GP held on the “old school†grass track at the new Surrey and Hants Radio Controlled Car Club in Farnham run by Neil Dudman and his team. With many of the country’s leading F1 drivers at the BRCA National in Kidderminster, this meeting was going to be a real chance for the “regional drivers†from the area to battle it out for the titles in 2WD, 4WD and Short Course classes.
All drivers were to use the Fastrax Turf Ripper tyres as a control tyre for the event that levelled up the field and wore the track hard as the day went on.
The 2WD class was by far the largest and most competitive. In round one, Darren Boyle running an X Factory X-6 Squared with a Viper RC VST 7.5T motor, Viper RC VTX10 speed controller and Vampire Racing 5400mAh 60C LiPo saddle pack batteries took the TQ with a time that would not be beaten all day. However, he only lined up second on the grid after round by round qualifying with team mate Kevin Hunt lining up third behind him also with his Viper-powered X-6 Squared.
In the three leg finals, it was Kevin who came through to take legs twee and three and with it the 2011 title with his X-6 Squared coping with ease on the now very bumpy surface that had suffered a pounding from the relatively hard compound control tyres. Kevin and Darren were joined by two other X Factory X-6 Squared in the final too.
In the 4WD class, it was Darren Boyle who stole the show, by TQ’ing all four of the rounds in qualifying and going on to take all three legs of the A final. He was using an Exotek Mako 44 body on his Team Associated B44.1 buggy, which was powered by a Viper VTX10R speed controller, Trinity Duo 3 6.5T motor and Vampire 5400mAh 60C LiPo saddle pack batteries.
The last class of the day was SC trucks and this saw a mix of 2WD and 4WD running together giving the massive advantage to the 4WD machines. However, from second on the grid, Kevin Hunt came home first with his X Factory SCX-60 2WD truck in front of a field of mainly 4WDs to take a great win and wrap up all three classes at this event. His truck was powered once more by a Viper VTX10 speed controller and running one of the new Vampire Racing Type AB+ 7.5T motors.
A huge well done to the club on a fantastic, well run and friendly meeting, please feel free to visit their website here. A link to the full meeting results can be found here.
