Maxi Vogl Wins German Open Indoor Masters
The Germany Open Indoor Masters took place at the Faszination Modellbau Fair in Friedrichshafen. Team Shepherd’s young talent Maxi Vogl was attending the unofficial German Indoor Championship. After qualifying, Vogl was in sixth position due to some traffic in his qualifying heat. Although he dropped to eighth position after a crash at the start of the semi final, he managed to climb up the order to finish in second position securing himself a place in the 30-minute main final.
In the main event, Vogl was able to work his way up to second behind reigning World Champion Robert Pietsch. Later on, Pietsch had a crash and damaged his rear rim and it took some time for him to get back in the pitlane and Vogl took over the lead. Pietsch tried to catch up after a quick repair in the pits, but time was to short and Vogl crossed the finishing line in first position followed by Robert Pietsch and Armin Baier.
