Hohwart and Berger Win ROAR Region 12 Champs
TQ Raceway in Chino, California hosted the 2012 ROAR Region 12 Championship the weekend of 14-15 January. The ultra-smooth and challenging carpet surface was in prime condition with perfect traction thanks to a full day of practice on Saturday. Over 100 entries took part in two rounds of qualifying and the main events on Sunday.
Rick Hohwart was the driver to beat in the 1:12 Modified class with his Reedy Sonic 4.0-powered Team Associated 12R5.1. With the fastest time in both rounds of qualifying, Rick started the final from pole position. A tangle with a back marker sent Hohwart back to third early on, but he soon regained the lead and never looked back, lapping the field on the way to the victory.
In the World GT category, Dave Berger followed much of the same script. Berger took top qualifying honours and the win with his Reedy Sonic 13.5-powered Team Associated 10R5. The Team Associated pan car sweep completed thanks to Dave’s TQ and win with his 12R5.1 in the 1:12 17.5T class.
In the Touring Expert 17.5T class, Team Associated’s TC6 took the win in the hands of super-fast privateer Alex Navarette.
