Tamiya and Elliott Harper Take Snetterton TC Win
Snetterton was the venue for Tamiya Racing Factory driver Elliott Harper to take victory at round four of the BRCA 1:10 Touring Car Nationals last weekend and in doing so, became the fourth different winner of the five round championship so far.
Elliott qualified third behind the Associated/Reedy of Olly Jefferies (TQ) and the GM-powered Schumacher car of Chris Grainger. Olly took off into an early lead in leg one of the A final while Chris Grainger struggled to keep and in doing so backed the rest of the pack up behind him. With little over a minute of the race complete, a short shower dampened the track, effectively turning it into an ice rink for the remainder of the race. With a smooth and controlled display of driving, Elliott made his way into second place and then caught and passed Olly for the lead before cruising to a comfortable win in the tricky conditions.
Leg two was dry and hot throughout and this time it was Olly’s turn to struggle for pace on used rubber. After sustained pressure from Chris Grainger and some good defensive driving by Olly, a seemingly inevitable collision occurred. This allowed Elliott to sneak through into the lead once again and win the leg. Phil Chambers benefited from regular contact between other cars on what is a notoriously difficult track to pass on to eventually finish second for Xray, while Olly held on to third in the race.
Despite having the overall win in the bag Elliott decided to race the final leg, but a clean and controlled drive by Olly saw him take the win ahead of Chris, with Elliott third, exactly as they started.

Elliott’s win keeps him in contention for the British Championship title which can still be won by five different drivers with just one round remaining. The final round of the championship takes place at Mendip in September.
