Justin Dewey Wins an X-6 Squared at Hobby Haven
The annual Hobby Haven Shoot-Out was run on Labor Day weekend at Hobby Haven in Des Moines, Iowa and X Factory sponsored the stock buggy class by awarding an X-6 Squared Conversion Kit to the highest finishing stock buggy driver who is not sponsored. X Factory wanted to show appreciation to club racers who make their Family strong, and believes sponsoring stock buggy at races all over is one good way to do that.
The remnants of hurricane Isaac were moving into the central part of the US as practice and Saturday qualifying took place. It was cool and cloudy and definitely felt like rain, but the expected showers held off and the sun came out in force Sunday about 10am. The finals were held with temperatures at 90-degrees plus with everybody drinking water like crazy.
Chazz and Paul Sinclair made the drive from Ohio to represent stock buggy class sponsor X Factory, while event title sponsor J Concepts flew AE team driver Dave Duncan in from their Florida headquarters. Duncan won the first two A final in stock buggy, so the race was on in A3 for the big prize.
Justin Dewey was starting second on the grid, so with Double D sitting out A3 Dewey was on pole, but early trouble moved him back a little in the pack. Dewey ran second for the middle section of the race, then took over the lead with about a minute to go and held it to the end.
After the race Dewey said, “I wanted to win the X Factory kit and worked hard through all the finals to do it. I’m excited to convert my current car over to mid-motor and try out the New Math. Thanks to X Factory for supporting the little guys.â€
