Gaston Zegard is a VP Pro off-road team driver and was competing at the first Chilean National Offroad Race (there are six races per year) that took place in the city of Chillan. The track is very technical with a lot of 180-degree turns. The soil is hard packed but a little dirty on the top with some percentage of of clay. The qualifiers started on Saturday and the tyre of choice was VP Pro 804, a very fast tyre that loves the clean part of the track. My best single lap time was with this tyre in white compound. With that condition and 24-degree Celsius, the durability was 20 minutes. For the final Sunday my choice was VP Pro 803 in green compound that had to last the 30 minute-long final. It has very good grip and great durability. It isn’t as fast as 804 but the durability is much better besides it works better with dusty tracks. Here is the final result:
1 David Fischmann – HB-RB-HB-RT fuel
2 Carlos Hartmann – Mugen-OS-AKA-Sidewinder
3 Gaston Zegard – Mugen-Picco-VP Pro-Kosmic
