Avid RC have released a new piston tuning table – a one-page reference for racers to print/save and keep in their toolbox, smart phone , set-up book or jammed inside your radio case. Avid’s goal was to provide recommendation on what pistons/oil to use as a standard set-up, and then to dictate which pistons you would change to for changes in grip, large jumps, and smooth or bumpy conditions. For example, a racer might change from the standard two-hole 1.6mm set-up to the four-hole 1.5/1.1mm set-up when the track with larger jumps gets bumpy, or the car feels like it needs more grip. Also new are two additional versions of the AV1030 series pistons – two-hole 1.5mm and two-hole 1.7mm flat. These fit the 12mm shocks on the Team Associated, TLR and Kyosho. Machined with a tighter fit to bore of the shock body for less blow-by, and each package includes four pistons inside of a Doodad container printed with Avid logo.
