Avid have released a 2.5mm thick, hard anodised B44.2 chassis. It’s claimed that the Avid chassis improves handling, lowers the C of G, and includes an optional ballast weight system which allows for adjustable weight bias. In addition, the B44.2 chassis has a second set of centre bulkhead holes to allow for a B44.1 +8 conversion. Extra parts are required and sold in an upgrade pack that includes a B44.1 +8 rear top deck, rear centre drive shaft, B44.2 battery trays and straps. Racers will need to modify their existing shell to fit.
The lower chassis is made from 7075 aluminium that is hard anodised and laser etched with the Avid logo. This gives less chassis flex chassis for more steering and more predictable handling, with a weight increase of 55g over the kit carbon fibre chassis however, it lowers CG and removes the need for additional added weight up high on the chassis. In the package you get an Upgrade RC chassis skin, one Delrin ballast weight and one aluminium ballast weight. Additional Delrin (3g), aluminium (9g), or steel (21g) inserts are sold separately.
