Last weekend, the second round of the French 1:8 On-Road Nationals was held in Longic near Dijon. Free practice on Friday and Saturday was rained out so everybody had to start qualifying with only a few laps of practice which made it very challenging for Richard Volta to set up his Shepherd Velox V8 “eleven” as he had no experience on this track.
Finally the sun came out and the rest of the race was held under good weather conditions. With a safe qualifying, Richard managed to finish the qualifying in second position just one second behind the pole sitter. Starting from the front in the semi final B, he easily took the win claiming the pole for the main final as his time was faster than winner’s time of the semi final A.
At the start of the final he could defend his lead, but a few laps into the race Richard made a small mistake dropping him down to second. In the following laps, Richard was able to catch up and took over the lead again. With his save driving style he controlled the race at the front crossing the finishing line in first position after 45-minutes.
