Round four of the 2013 BRCA Touring Car Championship took place last weekend at the Aldershot circuit located just outside of Farnborough in Hampshire that hosts the famous air show. The Saturday saw mixed weather conditions, which proved challenging for all drivers in terms of tyre choice and car set-up.
In the super touring class it was Olly Jefferies with his Team Associated who was able to make the best of the difficult conditions securing TQ. Chris Grainger for Schumacher was able to put his Mi5 second, with Andy Moore who returned especially from Thailand to race placing his HB TCXX third. Team Durango’s Elliott Harper would line up fourth and would have to work his way up to the front to secure the championship this weekend.
In the finals it was Olly who took the win in leg one followed closely by Chris Grainger. Elliott Harper was able to get past Andy into third, but was unable to challenge Olly and Chris with the time remaining. In Leg two Elliott was able to take the win from Chris Grainger and Andy in third, after Olly retired after six laps. In the third and final leg, Olly and Chris broke away from the pack with Elliott trying to find a way past Andy in third. Elliott was eventually able to get past past Andy as at the front, Chris Grainger moved into first place ahead of Olly to take the win. As a result this meant the championship title would be going to the final round at Mendip in September. Olly Jefferies took the overall win with Chris Grainger second and Elliott Harper third.
In the pro stock class it was Team Xray driver and 2013 BRCA Champion Zak Finlay who secured TQ from Chris Gunter and Tim Langdell. Come the finals and Zak Finlay was able to take all three leg wins to secure the overall victory, followed by the popular Tim Langdell who drove his Tamiya TRF417 to second. Completing the podium was Schumacher’s Mark ‘Muzzy’ Musgrove in third with his Mi5.
The BRCA would like to thank all the drivers for attending and supporting the event and to the Aldershot club for hosting the round.
