Serpent’s Chris Kerswell reports from the BRCA World GT National:
Last weekend saw the BRCA hold the World GT National. This year it was held as a single two-day event to make it easier for racers to fit it into their busy summer schedule. The Serpent S100 was great all weekend, it was well balanced, smooth and easy to drive from the moment I put it on the track. Particularly impressive considering this is only the second time I have ever run the car! I needed to make very few changes to the set-up all weekend, only softening off the side springs and dampers a little as the grip increased.
With such strong pace form the start, the pressure was on the rest of the field to find the missing time. They got close, but the S100 always had the edge. This meant I qualified on pole going into the three leg finals. With battling going on all through the field, I managed to get a clean break in all three finals. Having won the first two legs the championship was already decided however, whilst leading the third final I made a mistake which dropped me back down the field. I managed to catch back to the leader with about two minutes remaining and the race was on! After applying a lot of pressure the leader brushed a board and I was able to sneak down the inside and back into the lead, just a couple of laps from the end! The overall result was TQ and win for the S100, making it the 2013 BRCA World GT National Champion.
