Bradley-Baird-Irish-ChampVP Pro team driver Bradley Baird reports after winning the fifth round of the Irish National series and taking the championship with VP Pro:

Round five of the Irish nationals was held up north on the all Astro track of Ballymena hosted by the NIMCC. This was the final round of the season so I needed a podium spot to lock the championship up. In nitro qualifying I put in four solid runs to line up third on the grid for the final. In electric, JQ driver Andrew Rennick put in three consistent runs which put him second in the electric final. So both JQ cars with VP Pro on looking strong for the finals. The overall after qualifying in nitro was as follows:

1. Mark Penny – Kyosho/Bullitt/VP Pro
2. Alan Scroggie – Agama/Bullitt/Beta
3. Bradley Baird – JQ/nVision/VP Pro

In the 45-minute nitro final, I got off to a clean start and for the first ten minutes I pushed hard and battled my way to the front of the pack. As I neared the last round of fuel stops I had around a 20-second lead but an unscheduled fuel stop was added due to my fuel gun leaking on the previous stop which allowed Mark Penny in second to close the gap to under four seconds. The race was one to the chequered flag even though I only needed a podium to clinch the overall I pushed hard to hold to the lead and took the win went on the very tricky high-bite Astro surface.
In the electric final, Andrew had already grabbed the title so this final would be a victory run, He put in a clean and consistent final and took second. The overall for the nitro final was as follows:

1. Bradley Baird – JQ/nVision/VP Pro
2. Mark Penny – Kyosho/Bullitt/VP Pro
3. Barkley Abernathy – Agama/Bullitt/Beta
