Racer was all ready when the doors opened on the first day of the annual Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany. Ahead of our detailed report in the April edition of the magazine, here is a quick run through of the more interesting spots on day one. Bear in mind this is not in any order and as we have not had a chance to photograph and note all the best bits of the 2014 event, there is more to come…
Team Associated – as we love our 1:10 off-road, we made a beeline for Craig Drescher on the Team Associated booth and took some pics of the lovely new B5 range and the RC10 World’s Car too. Check out the Reedy speed control that is being installed in all their show cars!
Tamiya – TRFs are back in the form of the TRF418 touring car and TRF503 4WD buggy. Both are belt drive and are updated for the 2014 season. The usual high quality is evident throughout as these two models continue to develop their existing platforms…
Corally – the former Dutch company has seen huge changes and alongside its current line-up of 1:12 cars, they will also shortly launch a wide range of RTRs in different scales. Other items on show were new LiPos, modified brushless motors, a range of speed controls, chargers and servos too. It was good to see investment in the famous brand as well as lots to look forward to.
Schumacher – just to keep you going until tomorrow, here is a picture of Schumacher’s updated Mi1 v2 touring car that now comes with a revised upper chassis, machined lower chassis to support the use of a short LiPo as well coming with the Mi5 moulded battery holders. Robin Schumacher and Harvey Kempton were on hand to run through all their new items from Hobbywing, EDS, Core RC, Sky RC, Speed Passion and of course their own Schumacher brand but we ran out of time to take photos so you will have to wait – sorry…
Team Orion – located alongside Kyosho, Team Orion had lots of new items to show off to us including an addition to the Touch charger line-up with a twin output Duo model that is sure to be a popular choice for both racers and recreational users. We were also shown the new nitro engines with on- and off-road models that have been developed by Adrien Bertin as well as Reno Savoya and David Ronnefalk. The popular R10 speed control has had a makeover and now sports a new look, internals and firmware. The R10.1 Pro is designed for 1:10 scale and there is a matching R8.1 Pro 1:8 speed control too for competition use. The VST2 brushless motor range has now been increased with stock winds whilst a new low-profile servo was also on display that has been tested by Adrien in 1:8 applications, highlighting its flexibility and strength. You will also see a photo of the new 100C LiPo range that includes a 1S pack, as well as 2S versions in saddle, stick, short and square formats so everyone is catered for…
