The Peterborough Truckfest happened over the May Bank Holiday, so we popped along to have a look at the model trucks on display as well as the full-size counterparts that have thousands of pounds spent on customising these amazing machines.
Every truck on display, apart from some of the older vintage trucks is a working truck. So these amazingly clean vehicles take a lot of work for the drivers to keep clean. Many of the UK’s most well-known transport companies attend the show and ever popular Eddie Stobart had an area where you could get an autograph from some of there well know characters from the Channel 5 TV show.
As well as the amazing trucks on display, the show also offers extra attractions to keep the huge crowd entertained. As usual the model truck display created great interest with the viewing are always full of public watching the trucks on display.
This year the guys from Verkerk-Modelbouw made the jump across the water and well be trading at all the Truckfest shows throughout the season. In the arena, Dave King kept the crowd amused with commentary and displays ranged from FMX bikes to parades of show trucks. No doubt that the dusty surface of the Peterborough Arena would see the drivers spending hours with the cleaning products afterwards.
The biggest draw of the day besides an appearance of Michelle Keegan had to be the car crushing show featuring the UK’s Bigfoot #17 driven by Nigel Morris. This year they have been joined by one of the American trucks in the form of Bigfoot 10. In the small arena these massively over-powered trucks even managed to actually get air under their wheels!
