Not strictly an RC event, but the Tamiya Truckin’ members had put on an impressive layout for a one-day event. And with their new Fusion Hobbies-sponsored ‘have a go truck’ we popped in to take a look.
This impressive exhibition centre has 2000 square metres of space and this event saw some of the model tractor and farm machinery finest exhibits, dioramas and traders nestled among the full-size counterparts on display all within a warm environment.
The have a go truck was proving very popular with the youngsters in attendance and a steady stream of future model truckers proved very capable of negotiating the layout, with some even reversing the truck into the coned parking spot.
Out on the layout the heart shaped track with central climb had the truckers split into two teams with Team A and B shifting dirt from the base of the layout up to the top of the hill via several dump trucks and excavators loading them up. Team A finished their dirt first just before 3pm – although not really a competition it was still fun to watch. We witnessed several people watching the trucks for over an hour that proves that the Tamiya Truckin’ display is always a sure fire hit with the public.
