The organising team responsible for the successful EWS held their second annual summer event at the Adur track located near to Littlehampton on the south coast, and this attracted a strong field of top UK touring car drivers and a couple of international faces.
In modified it was Xray’s Olly Jefferies who took TQ on his very first visit to the venue ahead of Team Associated’s Chris Grainger and Schumacher’s Elliott Harper. In stock it was a very open but Jimmy Maddison came through to take the final leg of qualifying and was on pole for the A final. The F1 class was a little low on numbers but the cars looked very much at home on the very flat Adur track and it was Spencer Jones who took TQ.
There were no worries regarding the weather over the weekend and in the bright sunshine of day two. Olly Jefferies converted his pole position in the modified A final in to three straight wins to take the overall, adding this to his ICC title so he obvious enjoys EWS-organised two-day meetings. Chris Grainger’s TC6 didn’t look as sorted as its been of late at UK nationals this year, but Chris kept it clean in the finals and finished second in front of the Schumacher of Elliott Harper. Stef Chodzynski for Capricorn was fourth with Matt White completing the top five with his Team Associated.
In stock it was a furious first final with multiple accidents and incidents, the second and third finals were a little easier on the eye (and the marshals) after the scores were added up it was Jimmy Maddison that took the win ahead of Martin Hofer and another overseas visitor in the shape of Nicolai Lindergaard. Glenn Westwood and Daniel Booker were both well in the mix for all three finals and they finished fourth and fifth respectively.
Spencer Jones took victory in the F1 class ahead of Martin Hofer and Damian Giddins.
The event was very well supported by the industry and this was appreciated by the organisers and the drivers who benefited from a very compressive raffle.
