Schumacher driver Elliott Harper wrapped up the BRCA Touring Car Modified National title at the last race in the calendar at West London. Going into the final race of the season, Elliott headed the championship results sheets, but four drivers could still take the win including team mate Colin Price.
Elliott was out of the blocks early in qualifying on Saturday taking TQ in the first two rounds and a second in round three. The overall TQ position was not confirmed until round five, but with fresher tyres remaining than his rivals for the finals Elliott was in a strong position.
The first final was easily won by Elliott with a faultless performance driving away from the field. The second final was much closer for the first three minutes where veteran Chris Grainger would push extremely hard to find a way past. Chris knew that he must pass Elliott to take the championship to the last leg, but he pushed too hard and clipped the famous West London ‘D’ and rolled. This gave Elliott and his Mi5evo the breathing space to ease off a little and make sure of no mistakes to bring it to the flag. Victory in the first two legs gave Elliott his first BRCA Modified National title. Colin Price finished fourth overall, fourth in the championship and capped off another strong season.
The stock class also saw an immense showing from the Schumacher team. James Hart, Lee Price and Chris Gunter were all in the mix at the top of the time sheets, but in the end James took TQ and the victory. He was pushed all the way by Lee with some great racing to watch. Chris rounded out the podium giving the team a clean sweep of the podium positions, and this gave them second, third and fourth in the championship.
Louis Parker, another Schumacher driver also won the under 13 junior title with some great drives in his first outdoor season.
