This past weekend saw the TLR UK team travel to NDOR (Notts and Derby Off Road) for the revival of a classic race platform, the endurance race. The NDORance Masters 2016 would be run in support of the Heart Link Children’s Charity, taking place on the club’s varied and challenging Astroturf track.
Saturday saw the teams home in on their set-ups and all generally have a good time. Sunday saw the race itself and TLR UK’s three teams set to battle it out, with a number of others including two teams from RC PitBox. Two stick teams from TLR and one steerwheel team were raring to go Sunday morning. After an eventful sprint down the straight to collect engine and pipes, it was straight into the race with engine fitting and running-in part of the race itself. The 6 hours 45 minutes of racing saw all three TLR cars complete over 500 laps (so that’s over 1500 laps and nearly 50 hours together) and reach the end of the race without any major incident or breakage. The three cars sat on the first three steps of the podium coming home as follows:
First Place – TLR Horizon Team 1:
Michael Lewis
Karl Jackson
Matt Slaney
Glenn Smith
Henry Bennett
Second Place – TLR Horizon Team 2:
Matthew Lewis
Elliott Taylor
Matthew Francis
Gareth Oldfield
Darren Moult
Third Place – TLR Horizon Team 3:
Richard McKenzie
Jason Fowler
Garry Brace
Wayne Davis
Glynn Davis
Thanks goes out to those who organised the event as a great time was had by all and a total of£367.49 raised for the charity.
