Lake Forest, CA – Steven Hartson of Orange County, California is one of the fastest RC racers that you may not have heard of. But his speed and skills are well known in the Southern California electric off-road circuit. Steven started racing electric for Team Associated in 2003 at the young age of 12 and after fulfilling other commitments has signed on to race the full line of Associated, Reedy and LRP products including the Reedy 121 VR engine and the LRP 1:8 SPX8 system. Hartson, like many on the AE team, will use Sidewinder fuel combined with JConcepts tyres and accessories.

Hartson brings the outright speed comparable to the top electric racers in the world, but as of yet has not had the opportunities to showcase his talents in the 1:8 scene. With multiple A-Main finishes in 1:10 National Championships and major International events, Hartson looks to transfer these results to the ultra-competitive U.S. 1:8 scale scene. Local to Southern California, he’s sure to get his feet wet fast with weekly competitors such as team-mate Ryan Cavalieri, Cody King, Adam Drake, Mike Truhe, Ryan Lutz and so on.

Most recently Hartson traveled to Hutchinson, Kansas and competed in the Fall Classic. With limited experience on the surface and some tough competition from veteran racers, Hartson got the TQ and win for Team Associated in the 2WD Modified class; something that hadn’t been accomplished in the last six years at this race. This is just the most recent result of an impressive resume that began with his first ROAR National A-Main in 2006, solid B-Main finishes at the 2007 IFMAR 1:10 Off-Road World Championships, and back-to-back 2WD Modified Surf City Classic victories.

Hartson’s first race with his Reedy powered RC8B and RC8e will come in two weeks at the Toys for Tots event at Thunder Alley Raceway in Beaumont, CA. Until then, you can find him helping out, wrenching on his cars and burning laps at Orange County RC Raceway; no doubt dialling in his Reedy/LRP brushless systems for his B4, B44, T4 and RC8e.
