This past weekend the Hungarian national off-road championship kicked off with more than 60 drivers. The race was held in Apaj, a small city about 50km’s from the capital city of Budapest and organised by RCOR club. The layout of the track is really nice, very enjoyable; it has all kinds of jumps (table, double, triple, step-down) and corners (sweeper, hairpin, chicane). The racing line was visible but covered with slight dust. The track held up really well all weekend, thanks to the proper preparation of the organising club.

There were several new categories beside the usual Buggy, Truggy and Junior (under age of 14) classes, namely Short Course Truck (SCT) 2WD, Short Course Truck 4WD and Electric 1:8 (open for both Buggies and Truggies) which brought a busy schedule for the weekend.

In the buggy class was it was a very close fight between the two Losi drivers Cseko Gergely and Toth Bence all weekend, they were finishing all 5 qualification runs within 0.3sec with Gergely in the TQ position. They both won their individual semis (9 sec difference after 20 minutes) and starting from 1st and 2nd position in the 30 minutes long main final. They were having an intensive but very fair battle, driving side by side for almost all final, the difference was never more than a few seconds between the two, it was very spectacular. Only in the last 4 minutes Gergely could open a little gap, Bence ran out of tyres while Gergely being able to pit one less and choosing Revolvers instead of Holeshot tyres for the main.

The first three finished within 10 seconds.

  • 1st Cseko Gergely – Losi 8ight 2.0 / RB Concept B9 / Pro-Line Revolver

They immediately pulled from the rest of the field and driving in a different pace. Richard kept his head cool and controlled the pace in the final finishing 4 seconds in front of Laszlo in the end.
