Andy Moore Takes BRCA Winter National Championship
Following a Reedy Race of Champions-style event, Hot Bodies driver Andy Moore was crowned BRCA Winter National Champion. Andy was pushed all the way through the two-day meeting by Associated team driver Olly Jefferies with the latter taking TQ using the TC6 and piling the pressure on Andy all weekend. At the end, the two were tied on points and the title was decided on the fastest final time which Andy achieved in round two. All drivers were using 10.5T stock motors and the tight technical carpet layout of the Ardent Raceway provided some action packed races. Finishing third was Andy Moore’s Hot Bodies team mate and 2010 BRCA Pro Stock Champion Jonny Bowden; this was the first time national competitors from both classes used the same motor specification and raced against each other.
Some 102 drivers started the event with the top 32 going through to the Race of Champions whilst the remainder contested the Clubman National. On pole was John Dawson ahead of Merv Wiggnal and Tom Jefferies, but it was Chris Neff that came through from the middle of the grid to take the title ahead of Ben Putt and John Dawson. The Winter National was very well received and now looks like it will become a regular event on the BRCA calendar.
