Shepherd’s Henrik Christensen Wins Danish Nationals
The final round of the Danish 1:8 on-road Nationals was run at ODRC club in Odense, Denamrk. The track is small, slippery and has no space for errors so it’s technically challenging to drive 1:8 scale cars on. There was some rain overnight and it actually cleaned the track so the grip increased through Sunday. After five rounds Shepherd driver Henrik Christensen was leading by two points. The Danish point system also gives a point for TQ so when fellow Shepherd/Novarossi driver Jon Pedersen took TQ on Saturday, there was only one point between first and second. Jon took pole position in front of Henrik Christensen and Mikael Skals.
The 30-minute final was run on Sunday afternoon and the weather was a little cold, but it stayed dry all day. From the start, Henrik took the lead but after three minutes Jon managed to pass him and kept the lead until the second fuel stop. Afterwards, Jon had some problems and went out for several laps so Henrik took over the lead again. Although second placed Mikael Skals increased the pressure on the leading car, Henrik was the winner at the end. The final result for the Danish Championship was first place Henrik Christensen, second place Jon Pedersen and third place Thomas Larsen, all using the Shepherd Velox V8.
