Lucca Winter Trophy Victory for Shepherd’s Daniele Ielasi
Daniele Ielasi has won the classic edition of the Winter Trophy in Lucca, Toscana. It was the first race in Europe for the former World Champion with the Velox V10 for more than a year. Dario Balestri was another top international driver in attendance and both worked hard for the victory with a small advantage on Balestri’s side as Lucca is his home track.
In qualifying, Ielasi was placed second behind Balestri but the fastest laps were virtually the same. At the start of the final, both pulled away and stayed within two seconds of each other for the following ten minutes. After the second pitstop Balestri suffered technical problems and this left Daniele to take an easy victory. After the race Daniele had the following to say: “Although it was only a fun race, I’m very happy about the result as I didn’t drive much 1:10 nitro touring car in the last year and a half. My Shehperd Velox V10 worked really great and I could test some new set-ups. I’m looking forward to the next races.”
