Sunday saw the first round of the Irish National 1:10 On-Road Nitro Championship. Shepherd driver Chris Steele was the man to beat setting the pace for the day with a blistering TQ run with his Velox V10. Hot on his heels were Shepherd driver Darren Gibb also using a Velox V10 as well as Anthony Fitzpatrick, Colm Gaffney, Jacek Zadrozny and Stephen O’Connor who were close on pace all day.
The 30-minute final saw a great start from pole sitter Chris defending his position up front. In the following laps Darren was trying to keep up but the gap increased lap by lap. Anthony, Colm and Jacek were in a close battle at the start until Jacek flamed out with engine trouble. This separated the field a lot more and there were consistent positions held until Colm ran into trouble and did not return to track. After 30-minutes, Chris Steele took the win with an impressive four laps up on second placed Darren Gibb with Anothony Fitzpatrick completing the podium.
