Last weekend the second round of the Italian 1:8 scale on-road Nationals took place at the ultra fast track of Bologna in the north of the country. After qualifying Shepherd/Sonic driver Michele Romagnoli was ranked in the third place in the expert class qualifying directly for the hour-long main final.
As the engines get very stressed on this high-speed circuit, Michele decided to run a safe tactic and started with a moderate pace. About 35-minutes into the race Michele took over the lead and controlled the race for the following minutes. Two minutes before he flamed out, but thanks to his fast mechanic and brother Samuele he re-entered the track just in front of Alberto Picco who was running in second position. This was also the order when both crossed the finishing line giving Michele the maximum points for the championship standings in which he took over the lead. Cristiano Sartor, another Shepherd driver took the win in the F1 class with a comfortable lead of 1 lap on the rest of the field.
Michele had the following to say:
“My Velox V8 was excellent all the weekend and also my Sonic engines had a very good performance on this fast track. Thanks to Team Shepherd/Sonic and BRacing for the support!”
