Last weekend the fourth round of the French 1:8 On-Road Nationals was held under sunny conditions at La Ferriere aux Etangs in the Normandy region. In qualifying it was Romain Picard how took TQ honours, just 0.7 of a second in front of Shepherd driver Richard Volta who had to make an additional pitstop for fuel.
In the semi finals, Richard was the fastest driver on the track leading from the start to the chequered flag taking pole position for the final while Romain dropped out in the second semi final after he crashed his car.
From the start of the final, Richard controlled the race. With an easy to drive car and a good pit crew he managed to keep a gap upon the rest of the field driving safely around the track. After 45-minutes, he crossed the finishing line five seconds in front of Christophe Aygon with Christophe Louis completing the podium in third place.
Coming down from the rostrum Richard said, ”I really enjoyed the race and my Velox was really fast.” Without taking any risks, Richard managed to set a new lap record of 14.22 seconds.
