Following on from the success of the TLR 8ight 3.0 buggy, the new 8ight-E 3.0 has been developed to meet the specific requirements of the electric 1:8 off-road racer, honing it for the specific rigours of this class. The bespoke 4mm 7075-T6 symmetrical chassis facilitates the lowest possible mounting of the motor and cells thus lowering the overall centre of gravity to improve handling and direction change. Motor and cell placement is the result of countless hours of testing and development, whilst a free-running, low-inertia transmission design benefits from HD lightened outdrives on all three differentials that keep the rotating mass to a minimum. Other key features of the new race chassis are the dogbone centre driveshafts, big bore, 16mm diameter shock absorbers, adjustable aluminium suspension pivots and revised shock towers. Interestingly, the latter feature new adjustable roll centre and damper location points that have been optimised and simplified for the needs of the 8ight-E 3.0 with laser-etching to differentiate them from the nitro versions.
The 8ight-E 3.0 benefits from the aero-package development from the nitro buggy and so comes with a a rear wing with adjustable wickerbill whilst the body shell also benefits from a cab-forward design with a characteristic dorsal fin to increase high speed stability. Because of the potential increased heat generated by the electrical power system, integrated cooling channels to duct air into and over these items to ensure they performance at their optimum. Small but otherwise notable inclusions in the kit are heavy-duty 5mm turnbuckles, an improved Ti-CN coating for the shock shaft and hinge Pins, metal servo inserts instead of plastic, an improved droop screw system, updated mud guards and servo mount as well as a ball raced steering Ackerman plate. As the 8ight-E 3.0 is a kit, it requires suitable equipment to complete including a speed control, motor, pinion, LiPo, radio system, tyres and inserts, but you do get eight TLR wheels in the box.
