The Slough national in September would see the championship title decided between four racers as we headed into the last round. Lee Martin was the strong favourite having posted the most wins, but dependant on how Lee did, Darren Bloomfield, Elliott Boots and Neil Cragg all had a chance to take the title. What made it more interesting was that all four drivers had has one bad round at a prior meeting and with it being the best four from five scores the pressure was on.
Darren Bloomfield showed his intent by taking the first three rounds of qualifying and Elliott Boots had been pushing him hard all the way. Elliott then took over taking the last two rounds with Darren coming in second. This would mean Darren taking TQ followed by Elliott and Lee doing enough to take third from Neil in fourth.
Darren was to be the only casualty of the semi finals not to make the main with a clutch issue as the rest of the top four all made it through safely. In the final, Elliott drove a hard and clean race to lead from the outset and was not to be challenged by anyone, taking a very good victory to finish what has been a hard season for him. Lee did what he needed to do and drove a very strong race to come home second and secure the title with Neil coming home third to round off the podium.
