Mid-motor buggies are all the rage in competitive off-road racing and when compared to rear motor vehicles, have a slightly different rear wing placement. JConcepts has stepped up to offer a replacement Hi-Tension wing for drivers utilising the mid-motor option and released a specific wing for the application. The more aft position of the mid-motor wing allows greater tyre clearance than normal; JConcepts has redesigned the side-dam to accommodate this position and added an additional feature. The flow-through feature is a step that is created from only allowing a portion of the wing to step-up for tyre clearance. A small angular plane has a small surface which can be trimmed for a slot which air can pass during racing conditions.
In addition, the actual vertical side-dam now has a profiled shape near the bottom, tightening the section and also increasing the stability of the side-dams. The more rigid side-dams cut through the conditions while the sides provide plenty of clearance to the tyres. The flow-through section helps maintain directional stability while the rear gurney provides the drag and force to the rear-end providing rear grip and healthy jumping characteristics. The overall width of the wing is 6.6” which falls directly in-between the two most popular JConcepts wings on the market and provides a great stretch across the rear-end of the vehicle while not being too restrictive. Although specifically designed for mid-motor applications, the new wing has shown great potential on 2WD rear motor vehicles as well as 4WD buggies.
