The first round of the Portuguese National nitro on-road championship took place in Maia near Porto. With António Guedes and Pedro Silva, Shepherd Portugal had two drivers in the main final starting from fifth and ninth positions respectively at their first race with the Velox V8 “EC”.
For most of the race António Guedes was in third position, but after changing his tyres midway he felt more confident with the car and tried to go for the lead. Lap by lap he closed the gap and after the final pitstop he managed to take over the lead and kept it to the chequered flag. Pedro Silva crossed the finishing line in fourth position after a great performance starting from ninth.
In the 1:10-scale class Nuno Silva managed to take the super-pole and started from second on the grid. Unfortunately he was pushed off the track in the first corners and lost nearly a complete lap. With his consistent driving he climbed up the order step by step and with ten minutes to go he was in fourth position. Pushing his Velox V10 “PRO” to the limit for the final minutes was able to overtake two cars and finished in second position. His team mate Filipe Pinheiro was driving well too, but two flame-outs prevented him from achieving a top result finishing in eighth position.
