There were 43 racers in attendance for this round that was put on at short notice, but still a good showing once more. Qualifying was a tight affair between Darren Boyle and SC veteran Danny Conway who shared the round FTDs with two a piece with overall TQ being settled by overall fastest time which went to Darren with the faster time by over eight seconds.
The first final was a flag to flag victory for Darren, with Steve Alcock coming home second and Mark Rumble third. The second leg was a scrappy affair right from the first corner carnage through to a last gasp manoeuvre on the very last corner which saw Darren just take the win from Danny with Luke Eyre in third. Leg three was a straight fight between Danny and Luke for second spot with Luke taking the win and with it second overall, Danny having to settle for third.
The 2WD event was a win for Danny Conway with X-Factory UK team driver Jimmy Noke in second with his Vampire Racing-powered Exotek DESC210 truck, young Jamie Hall came in third, tied on points with our own Darren Boyle, who was once more using the prototype of the new SCX-61 from X Factory, showing again its potential by placing it third on the grid after qualifying and narrowly missing out on a podium finish.
Both Jimmy and Darren were powered by Vampire Racing SR1+ speed controls, Type AB+ V2 motors and 4600mAh 80C shorty LiPos and as per all our team drivers finished off with JConcepts bodies and Avid/JConcepts wheels and inserts….
Many thanks to Jason Ametrine for the kind permission to use his superb photos. So the series moves on, so far four different winners so far, we move on to round three later this month at Telford in Shropshire…
